A trailblazer on the Astral Express. originally a Chrysos Heir from Amphoreus, their blessing - or perhaps their curse - has allowed them to live for a millennia after their escape from their home and the flame chase that they were once intended to spearhead.

Persona.

ikaros is a very friendly character, who befriends easily and trusts strongly. they have not let the numerous losses they've experienced cool their heart, caring fiercely and passionately for every person they consider to be a friend, found family, or more. they have had both brief flings and more serious relationships over their many years. they are very kind and charismatic, and can come across as very laid back, a bit chaotic, and someone who enjoys the fun in life over anything else, but they are also quite dedicated to their scholarly pursuits, which most often involve seeking to find ways to achieve the impossible. this has been criticized in the past, as they can be very head-in-the-clouds about it all, and oftentimes has a single-minded focus when particularly interested in such experiments or theories, but it has not deterred them thus far.

ikaros does have a more solemn, serious side, unable to fully escape the weight that had been placed under them during their time as a trailblazer, as well as the many, many losses they've experienced over their many years. in combat, they are much more serious as well, often unconsciously slipping into a more leaderly persona. they are a natural leader, but are often wracked with an anxiety that has lingered from the pressure of their days as a proper chrysos heir. old habits die hard.

Backstory.

the story starts with a line of code, taking the form of a scholar. Ikaros was born in aedes elysiae, leaving at a young age, years before the black tide destroyed that village for good, to pursue an education at the grove of epiphany. they threw themself into their studies with fervor, both related and unrelated to the classes they took under the boughs of cerces' great branches, dedicated to their pursuit of knowledge in any way they could pursue it.

their brilliant mind eventually entangles them with the chrysos heirs, despite not being one themself, a supporting member of the flame chase. despite the absurdity of their ideas at times, and their fixation on making the impossible become possible, their aid to the flame chase journey was quite useful - even indispensable - and their friendly nature found a friend in many of the heirs destined to become demigods.

still, their own personal research remained prominent in their heart and consumed much of their time - and eventually, their life. in an attempt to discover the truth behind amphoreus's skies, and what may lie beyond, they were struck down, having incurred the wrath of the very titan that ruled over those skies.

this wouldn't be the last time, either - for this is only the first cycle, of so, so many.

though, not all cycles were the same. similar, perhaps, but something had happened in that first cycle, turning this line of code into a "bug". in the next cycle, they were born a chrysos heir, though the role they filled was only that similar to their first lifetime. the cycle after that, a traveler, scouring for knowledge they hoped hadn't been lost entirely to the black tide. some number of cycles after that, a chrysos heir again, born a millennia before they'd ever been in cycles past. a ( curse ? ) blessing of immortality is what accompanies them this cycle, seeing them through to the modern-day flame chase once again. their role varies, cycle to cycle, and as the number grows, they only seem to become more important. though, some things were always the same -

they are always born in aedes elysiae, no matter what. they always are alive in just the right time to contribute to the flame chase's ending, and their research into beyond the skies of amphoreus always remains unfinished.

several cycles before the one wherein the trailblazers of the astral express breach aquila's vigil of amphoreus's skies, ikaros is born, as has become increasingly often as the cycles pass, a chrysos heir. long before the destruction of their first home,
